Cristiano Ronaldo Leads Al-Nassr to Historic Arab Club Champions Cup Victory

    Cristiano Ronaldo proved once again why he is one of the best players in the world, as he scored two goals to help Al-Nassr win the Arab Club Champions Cup for the first time in their history.

     Al-Nassr faced fellow Saudi club Al-Hilal in the final of the prestigious tournament, which features the top clubs from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria and Iraq.

     The final was a thrilling and dramatic affair, as Al-Hilal took the lead in the second half through Michael, before Al-Nassr had two players sent off, Abdulelah Al-Amri and Nawaf Boushal, leaving them with only nine men on the pitch.

    However, Ronaldo showed his class and determination, as he equalized with a superb strike in the 74th minute, and then scored the winner with a header in extra time, despite being injured.

    Ronaldo finished as the top scorer of the tournament with six goals in six games, and lifted the trophy with his teammates at the King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh.

     The Portuguese star joined Al-Nassr in December 2022 from Manchester United, signing a two-and-a-half year contract worth more than 200 million euros ($220.16 million).

    He said in June that he welcomed any new signings for Saudi clubs, and since then, several big names have joined him in the Saudi Pro League (SPL), such as Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante, Kalidou Koulibaly, Edouard Mendy and Roberto Firmino. He also has Sadio Mané and Marcelo Brozović as his teammates at Al-Nassr.

     However, Ronaldo is now a doubt for Al-Nassr’s SPL opener against Al-Ettifaq on Monday, after he was stretchered off with an injury in the final minutes of the Arab Club Champions Cup final.

    He will be hoping to recover soon and continue his impressive form for Al-Nassr, who are aiming to win their first SPL title since 2019.
